SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane County officials are urging drivers to use caution on the roads Monday and Tuesday morning as snow plowing crews work to salt and sand local routes.
Crews began plowing and treating roads with salt and sand around 4 a.m. Monday. While most roads in the county have been treated, officials cautioned that while the sand and salt improve traction, roadways may still be slick. Drivers are advised to remain cautious and drive carefully.
Officials also warned that black ice could pose a hazard in some areas on both Monday and Tuesday. Roads in the northern parts of Spokane County are particularly snowy and icy.
In addition to driving carefully, Spokane County officials encourage residents to help improve safety by clearing snow from sidewalks near their homes, avoiding shoveling snow into the street, and assisting neighbors when possible. Drivers are also reminded to slow down in these winter conditions.
