SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a balanced budget for 2024.

The vote was made on Dec. 4 after the board voted down a 1% property tax increase last week.

“As families and businesses continue to face economic headwinds, now was not the time to place more burdens on hard-working taxpayers. I’m particularly proud of the investments we made in protecting the safety of our residents and businesses. I appreciate all the hard work our dedicated County team puts into the budget,” said Mary Kuney, Chair of the Board of Commissioners and representing District 4.

The $936.8 million budget includes funding for a new Enterprise Resource Planning program, equipment purchases and upgrades and capital investments. The budget also provides funding for a 13th Superior Court Judge and three new court support staff.

“Securing funding for the 13th Superior Court Judge was one of my top budget priorities. I was glad to work with my fellow Commissioners to get it done,” said Commissioner Chris Jordan. “This investment will help address a critical need in the County’s justice system, promote faster case resolution and access to justice,” said Spokane County Commissioner Amber Waldref.

For more information, the full budget can be viewed on the Spokane County website.
