SPOKANE, Wash. – A recent survey by the Washington State Office of Financial Management reveals that one in four state workers are not satisfied with their job. This dissatisfaction is prompting many to consider their career options.
Jennifer Koenig from Robert Half Talent Solutions suggests that workers should first seek clarity about their dissatisfaction. She advises individuals to ask themselves important questions.
“Am I unsatisfied with the company, the job, or both?” and “Do I want to stay with this company but find a different line of work?”
Koenig emphasizes the importance of setting goals, such as seeking a raise, career development, or a schedule change.
“Don’t be afraid to approach your employer and be honest about where you are and how you feel,” Koenig said.
Employers are aware of the numerous job opportunities available and are keen to retain their staff.
Research indicates that job departures are often due to workplace culture, lack of appreciation, or limited advancement opportunities.
“People don’t stay long-term where they don’t feel good,” Koenig added.
For those considering a job change, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports over 8 million job openings nationwide, offering a range of opportunities for job seekers in 2025.
