SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Fire Department (SFD) honored firefighters who died during the 9/11 attacks.

According to a Facebook post from SFD, local firefighters held two solemn observances this morning to pay tribute to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).

All Spokane Fire Department stations displayed their engines outside. At 5:46 a.m. and 6:03 a.m.—the times when the North and South Towers were struck—on-duty firefighters gathered in their Class B uniforms outside their stations. Following a dispatch announcement from SREC, they saluted the flag and observed a minute of silence at each time, standing united in remembrance of the FDNY’s fallen heroes.
