SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Fire Department responded to a record 54,312 calls for service in 2024.
According to the department, the previous record was 53,053 calls in 2022. The majority of calls were related to medical emergencies at 82%, with 45.1% classified as potentially life-threatening.
There were about 5,500 fire incidents across the Lilac City last year and about 100 of them were categorized as significant.
“Tragically, four fire incidents resulted in seven fire-related civilian deaths,” the department said.
The department thanked its firefighters for their work over a record year of service calls.
