SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane fire fighters are working to clear out brush and clean up forest areas to aid in wildfire prevention efforts in the region.
Spokane County Fire District 4 has been working with the Department of Natural Resources to mitigate ‘fuel’ for fire in dense forests.
These fuel mitigation projects make forests healthier and lower the threat of the wildfire spreading by clearing the brush and other things that could intensify the flames.
The fire station also shared some before and after photos to highlight their efforts. The specific photos they shared were at the Transfer Station near Newport Highway.
