SPOKANE, Wash. – May 4 will kick-off nine weeks of Expo ‘74 50th anniversary celebrations.
An opening ceremony will take place on May 4 in Riverfront Park from 3 to 9 pm.
It will include several performances from dance, theater and music groups across Spokane. In a call back to the original Expo,
Spokane Poet Laureate Mary Smith will also perform at the opening.
After the celebration opening there will be a litany of Expo ‘74 anniversary events, including a seminar about environmental justice at Gonzaga Law School and film exhibit at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture.
The Lilac City will have lots of opportunities to celebrate the iconic World’s Fair in the coming months.
