Spokane Lilac Festival announces their winners for 2024

SPOKANE, Wash. — After nearly 1,000 students marched in this year’s Junior Lilac Parade, the Spokane Lilac Festival Association has released this year’s winners.

According to the Spokane Lilac Festival Association, its annual tradition of naming winners for the Junior Lilac Parade has lasted over 70 years. It has released its award recipients from this year’s theme, “Dare to Dream,” a celebration of Spokane, Expo ’74 and all who dream.

Judges who were scattered throughout the parade route in downtown Spokane and have now picked this year’s award recipients.

The Sweepstakes award has been given to Northwood Middle School.

In the Large Band Division, Mountainside Middle School took home first place, with Evergreen Middle School walking away with second. Sacajawea Middle School placed third.

For the Small Band Division, Highland Middle School took first place, Greenacres Middle School took second place, and Salk Middle School took third place.

Sacajawea Middle School received the first place award for Dance with Chase Middle School placing second.

The Grand Sweepstakes honoree will appear in the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade, presented by the Spokane Lilac Festival Association, on Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in downtown Spokane.
