SPOKANE, Wash. – A man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into a home and set it on fire after police arrived at the residence.
According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), Marlon Laffoon purportedly broke into a home on East Augusta Avenue early Monday morning and started stealing items.
SPD claims that while he was still in the home, the residents heard him and called the police.
Laffoon allegedly refused to leave the house when police told him to surrender through a window of the home. Officers then forced their way into the home and made their way to an upper room of the house after they say they could see fire in the upper level.
He was detained with the aid of police dogs and sent to the hospital, where he allegedly spit on a doctor before being sent to Spokane County Jail.
Laffoon faces six charges related to the Monday night’s incidents and is still in jail as of Tuesday afternoon.
