SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man was arrested Sunday after allegedly causing a crash that left several people injured and fleeing the scene before being detained by police.
According to court documents, around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a car driven by 27-year-old Jack Labi was heading south on North Addison Street when it collided with another vehicle at East Central Avenue.
Four people were injured in the crash, including two passengers in Labi’s car. All of the injured were transported to the hospital.
A witness told police they saw Labi running from the scene. The witness chased him and urged him to return, saying, “You gotta go back! You hurt some people!” Labi reportedly responded, “I don’t care. Quit following me.”
The witness continued to follow Labi until officers arrived. Police said they found Labi banging on the door of a nearby apartment, asking to be let inside. The occupants did not allow him entry, and officers detained him.
Police said Labi smelled of alcohol at the time of his arrest. He was booked into Spokane County Jail and made his first court appearance Monday.
Police said they have probable cause to charge Labi with four counts of vehicular assault and four counts of hit-and-run injury.
Labi’s bond was set at $100,000. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 29.
