SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane man was arrested on suspicion of murder following an argument over a truck.
According to court documents, on Oct. 29, a witness reported hearing screams and a loud bang in the alley behind 3711 East Pacific Avenue in the east-central area and called 911. Court docs later said that video evidence later submitted to police by the witness captured the aftermath, with a woman stating someone had been stabbed.
Another witness who knew the victim said that they spoke to police about the events leading to the stabbing. According to the woman witness in the court docs, she and the victim who was later identified as Lamar Robertson, 38 went to 3714 East 1st Avenue to repossess a truck from someone who was with the suspect, with whom they had a dispute over the truck.
According to court docs, the witness said that they described seeing the suspect, , holding a large hunting knife when a confrontation over the vehicle trade started. The witness said that saw Jaramillo was armed with a large hunting knife that was about 6-8 inches long. During the fight, the victim Robertson was stabbed and later declared dead at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
According to court docs, investigators said that after they talked to witnesses, they later went to the scene of the reported murder and found evidence at the scene. According to court docs, they found a folding pocket knife and a baseball bat were discovered in the alley. The other person with Jaramillo was arrested and interviewed by detectives, where he admitted to being in the alley but denied stabbing Robertson, according to court docs. He was later arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for unrelated warrants.
Court docs said that investigators found two large hunting knives at a nearby car dealership, one with a red stain resembling blood. Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed a person running into the car lot shortly after the stabbing, suggesting an attempt to conceal weapons, according to investigators.
, Jaramillo was arrested at on Nov. 19 at around 1 a.m. near the 400 block of South Maple.
Police said that based on evidence and witness accounts they have probable cause to charge Jaramillo with second-degree murder.
