SPOKANE, Wash. – A man who shot a Spokane Police Department officer in 2022 was sentenced to 65 years in prison on Friday.

Ray Wynecoop was initially arrested for shooting an officer alongside Issac Ott in late June of 2022.

Wynecoop shot officer Kris Honaker from his car while Honaker was responding to reports of a drive by shooting.

Wynecoop pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and assault charges before receiving the sentence.

Ott has yet to head to trial for allegedly also shooting at an officer. His legal case is scheduled to begin later this month.
