Spokane MultiCare’s impacted by global technology outage

SPOKANE, Wash. – A global technology outage affected Spokane MultiCare’s delaying surgeries and cancelling appointments.

In a statement released by MultiCare they outlined the impact that the outage, caused by a faulty update deployed by the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.

“MultiCare has been impacted by the CrowdStrike outage. All elective surgeries at both Deaconess and Valley Hospital that were scheduled for today will be rescheduled for a later date, but emergent and urgent procedures can and will be performed safely.” Kevin Maloney with MultiCare said.

The outage has left people across the United States in a wake of confusion as companies work to address the issues and wait for more updates from CrowdStrike.

“MultiCare’s Deaconess and Valley Hospitals Emergency Rooms will be remain open and instituting down-time procedures. MultiCare Rockwood Clinic will reschedule all appointments between 7-9 AM for a later date. All appointments after that time will follow down-time procedures.” Maloney said.

MultiCare is in the process of reaching out to Spokane patients that are affected and working to reschedule.

The MultiCare urgent cares around town will remain open for walk-in patients through the outage.
