SPOKANE, Wash. – Striker Jackson, a caretaker at Riverfront Park, acted quickly to save a man’s life after encountering him unconscious and unresponsive.

While driving across a bridge on his way to work, Jackson noticed the man, who showed no signs of a pupil response and had eyes rolling back.

Jackson attempted to wake the man but, after realizing the severity of the situation, called 911.

“That was probably the most shocking experience I would have to say. It was, it was pretty scary,” Jackson said. His immediate suspicion was confirmed by a nurse from MultiCare, who indicated that such symptoms typically suggest an opioid overdose.

Within five minutes of the call, emergency responders from AMR arrived at the scene, administering Narcan to the man. Remarkably, the man came to and walked away from the incident, expressing gratitude for Jackson’s swift actions.
