SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County Parks will return to their summer conditions on Friday, May 3 for the 2024 Parks Service Season.

Until September 29, public restrooms will be open, picnic tables will be available, trash service will resume, drinking and irrigation water will be turned on and regular landscape maintenance will be ongoing, according to Spokane County Parks, Recreation and Golf.

Included in Spokane Parks Services’ upcoming maintenance is the Liberty Lake Regional Park Phase 1 Renovation project, which will require the closure of day-use parking throughout the summer to ensure safety and construction efficiency. The park will remain open but in limited capacity for registered camping and shelter reservations during the renovation, according to a release from Spokane County.

The upcoming construction at Liberty Lake Regional Park will result in a new swim deck, kayak launch and drop off, wetland plantings, new sidewalks and paved and accessible parking.

As soon as Phase 1 of the project is completed at the end of September, an extensive construction project on Zephyr Road leading to the park entrance will begin and continue into October. The road will undergo a full reconstruction and widening with the addition of stormwater improvements near the park entrance.

Additionally, Bear Lake Regional Park’s gates will be closed throughout the summer due to construction.

The seasonal closures will not affect Conservation Futures trailheads, according to Spokane County.

More information regarding current and construction projects can be found on the Spokane County Parks, Recreation and Golf website.
