Spokane police arrest man after 8-hour SWAT standoff in Minnehaha

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department arrested a man after a nearly 8-hour SWAT standoff in the Minnehaha neighborhood.

The man was arrested early morning Wednesday on charges of first-degree assault and drive-by shooting.

According to SPD, officers were dispatched to a on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 30 prompting the 8-hour standoff with SWAT.

The SWAT team and police officers discovered him hiding in the area of 4400 block of East Frederick Avenue.

SPD says there is no active threat to the public as of Wednesday morning.
