Spokane police arrest stabbing suspect after several hour standoff

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Fire and Police Departments responded to a stabbing at a West 6th Avenue home Saturday morning.

According to the Spokane Fire Department, the stabbing was called in to law enforcement around 9:45 a.m., and a suspect then barricaded themselves in a home near where the violence took place.

The suspect was barricaded in the home for several hours while SWAT teams assessed the situation. A male suspect was arrested at around 1:30 according to the Spokane Police Department.

While a section of I-90 at Maple Street was shut down for about 10 minutes while police coordinated taking the suspect into custody, police say this was an isolated incident and that there is no longer any threat to the public.
