Spokane police arrest suspected drive-by shooter and eight-time convicted felon

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has arrested an eight-time convicted felon who was involved in a drive-by shooting in Freya and Wellesley.

On March 1 at 7:39 a.m., SPD responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the area of Freya and Wellesley.

Police found a bullet hole in the victim’s vehicle from a reported road rage incident, officers were then provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle and began searching the area.

Police located the vehicle and the suspect in the area of 3900 W Olympic and detained the suspect male. Officers then later determined the suspect had discharged a firearm.

The suspect Keith J. Butters, a 44-year-old, was placed under arrest and booked into Spokane County Jail for charges of First Degree Assault, Second Degree of unlawful possession of a firearm and drive-by shooting.
