SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, leaving one man wounded.
On Aug. 18, shortly after 1 a.m., the Spokane Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 4900 block of North Magnolia Street. Officers arriving at the scene found shell casings in the street but encountered uncooperative residents at a nearby house who provided conflicting accounts of the incident, including one report of a person emerging from the house and firing a gun. No victims were located at this location.
Shortly thereafter, officers were called to a residence in the 1800 block of South Riverton, where they found a man with a gunshot wound. The man, who was on the ground outside of a car, received initial treatment for injuries that did not appear life-threatening. According to SPD, the victim’s girlfriend reported that the shooting occurred near Mission and Hamilton while they were driving, although police found no evidence of a bullet hitting their car. A firearm and a loaded magazine were discovered inside the vehicle.
