Spokane police respond to shooting on Monroe Street

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department responded to Monroe Street for a reported shooting.

An altercation on Mansfield Avenue ended with a man being shot and driving over to the 76 Gas Station on Monroe Street around noon.

A woman in the car with the victim told employees the man had been shot.

The man told police that his brother shot him, but police have yet to confirm that.

No one has been detained in the incident and the victim has been transported to the hospital.

Police say there is no heightened threat to the public.

Monroe Street is closed north and southbound from Knox Avenue to Montgomery Avenue.
