Spokane police search for suspect in drive-by shooting that injured man

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police continue to search for the individual who reportedly shot a man in a drive-by incident that sent him to the hospital.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), on August 8, officers responded to the area of South Freya and West 15th Avenue following information related to a shooting earlier in the day. In that incident, a person was shot during a drive-by shooting.

Later in the day, while interviewing witnesses and investigating the area, police learned that the suspect might have been at a location in the . Several people were detained during the standoff, but the suspect was not arrested.

SPD responded to a report of the shooting at North Monroe Street and West Mansfield Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a man outside a truck in a gas station parking lot who had been shot. Police said they provided medical care until medics arrived, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officers obtained a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a possible suspect identification.

The investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released at a later time.
