SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Interim Police Chief Justin Lundgren confirmed that Spokane Police Department officers shot a suspect near Shadle Park High School on Thursday night.
According to Lundgren, the man shot by officers was suspected of a drive-by shooting during an altercation with a truck driver at about 4:30 pm. He reportedly fled the scene after the alleged drive-by took place.
Spokane police later located the suspect near a Shadle Park baseball field at around 6:30 pm. Lundgren claims that officers chased him away from the field, where a baseball game was reportedly underway at the time.
While chasing the man, Lundgren says that officers shot the suspect multiple times just south of the school. Three officers were involved in the incident according to the SPD.
The suspect was undergoing medical care as of 9 pm on Thursday.
