SPOKANE, Wash. — The City of Spokane has announced multiple traffic disruptions affecting several major roadways this week due to ongoing infrastructure repairs.

Starting at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 57th Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Rebecca Street and Palouse Highway as the Spokane Water Department undertakes repairs on a leaking water main on South Hill. The city expects delays for both eastbound and westbound traffic throughout the day, with the road reopening by 5:30 p.m. The affected area is near Moran Prairie Elementary School and the STA Moran Station Park and Ride. Drivers should anticipate significant slowdowns and are advised to allow extra travel time.

The city said that in addition, Washington Street will experience closures on Wednesday, Sept. 11, due to a grind and overlay project. Beginning early in the morning and continuing throughout the day, Washington Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The intersections of Maxwell/Mission Avenue, Boone Avenue, and North River Drive will be closed for paving. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes such as Indiana Avenue and Spokane Falls Boulevard, or other major streets like Division Street and Monroe Street, if possible.

Further roadwork will affect Francis Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 12. The street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Belt Street and Elm Street for sewer station repairs starting at 8 a.m. Traffic will experience substantial slowdowns, and the center turn lane will also be closed. Flaggers will be present to manage traffic flow. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate east-west routes to avoid delays.

The city advises all drivers to plan accordingly and allow extra time for travel due to these significant disruptions.
