Spokane South Hill car wash destroyed in suspected arson case

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Fire Department and investigators responded to another fire they believe to be connected to a larger set of arson cases in Spokane.

Squeaky’s Car Wash, connected to the Conoco gas station on the 4500 block of South Regal Street, was destroyed in what investigators confirmed was arson.The fire started on the outside of the building, moved into the attic, and eventually destroyed the inside of the car wash.SFD investigators say they saw two suspects on video lighting the building on fire and running to a nearby parking lot to watch it burn around 2:30 a.m. Friday.Investigators are seeking additional security camera footage or pictures from businesses or residents in the area and security footage of the suspects will be released next week. Damage estimates are $150,000, with value saved estimated at over $1,000,000. The Spokane Police and Fire Departments are investigating the case and working to locate the suspects involved in the string of arson cases.Investigators could not confirm if the same suspects are responsible for this fire but noted the previous arson case was directly across the street at Ace Hardware.The Conoco Gas Station attached to the car wash was not affected by the fire and remains open.If you have any information regarding the fire, please call (509)-625-7120 to speak to an investigator.
