Spokane Spectrum Center promotes S.A.L.U.T.E. method on election night

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane’s promoted the S.A.L.U.T.E. method Tuesday night in the interest of keeping marginalized communities safe.

As anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-Black violence have increased across the Evergreen State , Spectrum Center reminded voters to remain vigilant Tuesday night.

“In light of the threats this election season poses to our safety, Spectrum is reviving our S.A.L.U.T.E. and white nationalist militia guides,” the organization said via social media.

The acronym stands for “size, activity, location, uniform, time and equipment,” which helps voters who could be threatened by extremist violence communicate threats to fellow community members.

Spectrum also referenced the Human Rights Spokane hate crime report tool for anyone who is threatened or harmed as a result of white nationalist or anti-LGBTQ+ violence.
