SPOKANE, Wash. — Do you have a fitness goal for 2024? Well you are not alone, every year people all around the world set a new years resolution to improve their fitness but find themselves lost and don’t know where to start.

That’s why NonStop Local spoke with a few local trainers about how to start your fitness journey and achieve their new year’s resolutions

One thing they all said is that it’s important to set reasonable and achievable goals. Once a goal is set, you need to begin to track them so you can see your improvement.

A way to do this is to grab any old journal and write a consistent workout log for each time you step into the gym or step outside.

Trainers also say that people often get eager to look good. They will set an awesome goal but never have a plan to accomplish it, so it flops.

Some questions you should ask yourself include:

What is your diet going to look like? How many days of the week will you go to the gym? What different muscle groups are you going to work on?When will your rest days be?

These are all questions that MUV fitness director, Olito Thompson, says you need to ask yourself before starting towards your goal. “Think about a doctor. It’s equivalent to them saying I’m going to cut here and we’ll figure out the rest when we get in there. It’s dangerous,” said Thompson.

Thompson also says if you want to make fitness a part of your life and not just a resolution you need to prioritize it and make it a part of your regular routine.

If you are wanting to start your new fitness journey, there are gyms all around Spokane you can sign up for. To start a free trial or sign up for training at MUV fitness, head over to their website.
