SPOKANE, Wash. – An abandoned house in Spokane Valley caught fire early Tuesday morning, shutting down the road.
The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a fire at 211 South Chronicle Road on Tuesday around 3:30 a.m. with reports of the back corner and inside of the home on fire.
Authorities had to close Chronicle Road just south of Sprague during the incident, but it has since reopened.
Crews worked to tackle the flames as the fire burned through the abandoned home and quickly brought it under control.
SVFD launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and has set up a company to reboard the house once the investigation has been completed.
The fire badly damaged the home, but there were no occupants or firefighters injured in the incident.
