SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Valley City Council approved the during Tuesday’s meeting.
The $149.6 million budget will take effect from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025. It includes $64.7 million for the General Fund and $84.9 million for 30 other city funds. Estimated recurring General Fund revenues are projected to be $63.7 million, reflecting a 3.8% increase from 2024, while recurring General Fund expenditures are expected to be $63.2 million, up 6.02%. The budget also includes $56.3 million in capital expenditures, with 82% of that funding coming from state and federal grants.
The budget supports the City Council’s priorities, including a 13.94% increase in public safety funding, which covers 12 new law enforcement positions approved in 2024. It also maintains funding for the city’s street maintenance programs and allocates $56.3 million for capital infrastructure projects aimed at improving mobility and efficiency, with 82% of that amount offset by grants. The budget also addresses the update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan and efforts to tackle the middle housing shortage and promote affordable housing development.
