SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley deputies arrested a man who was allegedly high while “pointing” a machete at a store employee on Saturday.

On Nov. 7 around 9 a.m., Spokane Valley deputies responded to a report of a man waiving a machete at a store employee in the 5300 block of east Sprague Avenue.

The employee told deputies that the man dropped a bag at the entrance of a store. As they made eye contact the suspect started walking towards the door and pulled out a machete from his jacket. He then pointed it at the employee and left the location.

Deputies were given a description of the man, who was last seen walking east from the store.

The man was located in front of the Big 5 on east Sprague Avenue and was safely detained. Initially the man did not give deputies the right name, they later identified him as 27-year-old Ivan Zenoskey.

Zenoskey told deputies that at the time of the incident he was high and pointed the machete at two separate people. When asked why, he replied by saying “I thought he was f***ing with me!”

Ivan Zenoskey was booked into Spokane County Jail for brandishing/intimidation with a weapon. He was released the following day on his own recognizance.
