SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) will unveil its new Engine 8 and invited the community to celebrate.

The current Engine 8 went into service in 2010. Now, it is 14 years old and has 129,000 miles and it will be moved to SVFD’s reserve Fleet.

Join SVFD from 4 to 5 p.m. on May 15 at 2110 North Wilbur Road. SVFD will unveil its new Engine 8, specially built to department specifications and fitted with gear, including technical rescue equipment.

SVFD is working to standardize its Fleet by 2026, helping crews better respond to emergency situations.

“It is our duty to maximize the use of our fire apparatus,” said SVFD Fire Chief Frank Soto Jr. “With over 23,000 emergency calls in 2023, we continue to run the tires off these engines. We are grateful to our voters who supported our levy making these updates possible to our aging apparatus. We are excited to bring our community this new Engine 8 so that we can better serve them during their emergency.”
