Update Aug. 8 at 6:20 p.m. – Spokane Valley firefighters said that the four acre fire near Appleway Boulevard has been completely lined with forward progress stopped as well.
Spokane Valley fire said that DNR will be mopping the area throughout the night.
“Perfect example of why people calling it in early can make a huge difference” said a spokesperson from the Spokane Valley Fire Department.
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters are battling a brush fire in the east Spokane area.
According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, the fire is near Appleway Boulevard and Park Road. Firefighters ask residents to be cautious around emergency vehicles and to avoid the area.
Spokane Valley said that multiple units from Spokane Valley, Spokane Fire Department and the Washington Department of Natural Resources are on the scene. Fire officials said that Appleway Boulevard is down to tow lanes at Park Road.
