SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters responded to a garage fire on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, crews were initially dispatched to the area of Center Road and Liberty Avenue for a report of an illegal burn at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The call was later upgraded to a structure fire, prompting assistance from the Spokane Fire Department and Spokane County Fire District 9.
When firefighters arrived, they found moderate smoke coming from the roof and eaves of a small detached garage behind the house. The homeowner, alerted by a passerby, had unlocked the main door before crews arrived. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters. Officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined but believed to be unintentional.
