SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A man arrested four times in the past two weeks, most recently for allegedly .

According to court docs, Michael McCoy, 39, was taken into custody Saturday after deputies responded to a reported vehicle theft at a job site on North University Road.

McCoy is accused of breaking into an unattached garage on the property and stealing a white and orange Bobcat excavator. Investigators said the garage door and frame were damaged during the incident, with repair costs estimated at $700.

A witness reported seeing a man driving the excavator on East Mission Avenue and contacted the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they located McCoy operating the vehicle shortly afterward.

McCoy reportedly told deputies he believed he owned the Bobcat and planned to use it at a local business to remove a vehicle transmission.

Court docs said that deputies saw tire marks on damaged plywood covering the job site’s garage door, indicating the Bobcat had been driven through it. McCoy was taken into custody.

He made his first court appearance Tuesday, where his bond was set at $2,500. His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 28.

McCoy has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief.

According to court records, McCoy was previously arrested on Dec. 30 for motor vehicle theft, on Jan. 1 for trespassing and obstructing law enforcement, and on Jan. 4 for allegedly siphoning gas, causing damage to a vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance after each of those arrests.
