SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane Valley woman was arrested on Friday after police said she tried to stab a man with a ‘Centurion style’ sword as he was leaving his home with his three daughters.
Elizabeth Ptacek, 43, was charged with first-degree assault on Monday. Her bond was set at $100.000.
The incident took place at an apartment complex located a few blocks north of Adams Elementary School.
According to court documents, the victim told police that Ptacek knocked on his door shortly before 8 a.m. He opened the door to see Ptacek standing outside “smiling.”
He asked if she needed anything, and Ptacek said she “was good” and left.
The victim and his daughters later left to go to school. When they walked past Ptacek’s apartment, she allegedly jumped them and tried to stab the victim in the abdomen.
The victim told police he blocked the attempt to stab him with his hand. He further told them that, if he hadn’t have blocked it, he may have been killed, and his children may have been seriously hurt or killed as well.
He told police that he pinned Ptacek to a wall until police could arrive.
Defendents typically don’t enter a plea until their arraignment, which is scheduled at their first appearance. Ptacek’s arraignment was scheduled for Jan. 7, 2025.
