Spokane vintage ice cream parlor Doyle’s reopens after winter season

SPOKANE, Wash. – A vintage Spokane ice cream parlor has reopened after closing for the winter season.

Doyle’s Ice Cream, located in West Central Spokane, has been making its own ice cream since 1939, maintaining its vintage charm.

The ice cream shop operates seasonally and recently reopened its doors just as spring break begins.

Owner Jerry Gill described the parlor as a step back in time, featuring Spokane’s last working vintage soda fountain and an extensive collection of ice cream memorabilia.

The parlor also boasts a unique history, making it a familiar spot for many Spokane residents. Gill explained that Boone Street once had trolley tracks leading to Natatorium Park, now a mobile home park. It was a tradition for people to ride the trolley with some Doyle’s ice cream and enjoy it at the park.

They still serve some old-time classics like black and white, awful-awful (a vertical banana split), floats, old-fashioned shakes and banana splits.

Check out their Facebook here or visit them at 2229 West Boone Avenue, Spokane, Washington.
