SPOKANE, Wash. – Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R) is officially a lame duck after the on election night. Her was marked by a consistent focus on veterans issues.
McMorris Rodgers championed a policy that and voted for policies addressing mental health struggles amongst veterans.
The congresswoman did garner criticism in 2022 for voting against the PACT Act, a policy which offered benefits to soldiers who were exposed to toxic materials while serving their country.
More recently, she sponsored a September 2024 bill honoring Vietnam War dustoff crews.
While McMorris Rodgers might be leaving public life, military issues could potentially continue to be highlighted by eastern Washington’s representative given that she’s handing off her office to a politician with experience as an economics officer in Iraq.
