SPOKANE, Wash. – The Grove Fire in the Spokane Geiger Heights area has now been contained 10% as fire crews attack the flames for another day.
The fire broke out on Monday afternoon, burning around 75 acres of land and prompting Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuations for residents in the area.
As of Wednesday morning, the Level 2 (Be Ready) evacuations were still in place for residents.
If you do not know if you are under an evacuation notice, visit the Spokane County Evacuation Zone Lookup and search your address.
Over 70 firefighters are on scene working on attacking the flames Wednesday, with no injuries reported.
Crews have set up a perimeter and will ‘mop up’ or attack the fire 30 feet at a time, moving inward.
Three structures have been destroyed in the fire, but the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said none of those were homes.
The cause of the fire is unknown, and an investigation is underway.
