SPOKANE, Wash. – This weekend, the Manito Holiday Lights will open to the public, showcasing a new layout in Duncan Garden. The event, organized by the Friends of Manito, promises a dazzling display of holiday lights.
Kelly Brown from the Friends of Manito explained the changes. “Well, this beautiful light display behind us started out in the [Manito Park’s Gaiser] Conservatory. Been a drive through for several years. The fifth year we’ve consolidated it and put it all behind us in Duncan Garden,” Brown said. .
The preparation for the event is extensive, involving a couple million lights and numerous volunteers. Brown explained that Friends of Manito began setting up the display back on December 2nd and about 20 people are still out there working hard on the finishing touches. “They’ll be working up until the day of, finding dark spaces and adding light,” Brown said.
Visitors can enjoy the lights from December 14th through the 22nd, with the display open from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each evening. The event is free, thanks to the support of sponsors.
