STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. – Overnight lightning strikes caused a several fires in Stevens County that were addressed by Fire District 1 Sunday morning.
According to the fire district, the Deer Lake Fire burned less than an acre. It was lined overnight and was in the process of being mopped up over Sunday.
Another small fire on Scott’s Ridge is not contained because of the terrain where the blaze started.
“The Scott’s Ridge Fire…is small and in an area unsafe to attack the fire due to terrain and night operations. DNR will keep an eye on it until morning when it is better accessible,” the fire district said.
The district will monitor for more fires that could have been caused by the Saturday night lightning storms throughout the rest of the weekend.
