COLVILLE, Wash. – A Stevens County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a suspect on Friday.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy was responding to a call half a block away from the Stevens County Courthouse.
The sheriff’s office claims that a county prosecutor was attacked with a machete to the face before calling police and identifying the vehicle of the person who attacked him.
The deputy identified the suspect’s vehicle, and when he approached it the suspect allegedly attempted to attack him with the machete, at which point the deputy shot and killed the suspect.
Stevens County Sheriff’s Office says that the prosecutor received several stitches and will make a full recovery. The names of the deputy and the suspect have not been released.
