SPOKANE, Wash. — Stores in the River Park Square shopping mall were evacuated on Tuesday evening due to smoke.

According to the Spokane Police Department, at about 6:15 p.m. on August 20, multiple fire crews responded to River Park Square in downtown Spokane after reports of haze in the building.

SPD stated that two stores on the lower level experienced an electrical problem with an HVAC unit. These stores were evacuated, but the entire mall was not.

This is a developing story, and more information will be released later.
