Street Music Week raises $320k in the last 22 years in Washington & Idaho

SPOKANE, Wash. – Over the past 22 years, hundreds of volunteer performers have raised over $320 thousand for Second Harvest and are hoping to raise even more this year.

It’s always during the 2nd week of June, where performers at 3 different locations (Main Street in front of Starbucks in downtown Spokane, the opposite street corner of the Milk Bottle in the Garland District, and in front of Spirit Art Gallery in Coeur d’Alene) show up from noon-1 and perform in front of a bucket with a QR code and poster asking for donations.

There is still time to get involved and there is no sign-up required. All you have to do is show up at one of the three locations ready to perform. When you get there ask for a bucket and a poster and go.

Ivy Eyer has been helping with Street Music Week since she was just 2 years old. It started with her dancing in her stroller while her family played music. Now she plays several different instruments when she is able to participate.

“It’s really refreshing,” said Eyer. “And it’s great that I know that I’m making a difference in our community for people that need it…”

Remember, this is not just for musicians, but for performers in general. It’s been a few years but, in the past, there have been mimes and comedians performing as well.
