MOSCOW, Idaho — Student resident volunteers finished their second week of training with the Moscow Volunteer Fire and Ambulance on Friday.

Known as the “rookie weeks,” the students learned EMS operations, including moving patients, knowing the proper procedures when using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), MCI response, operating gurneys and equipment, and hospital tours, and becoming CPR certified.

According to the Moscow Volunteer Fire and Ambulance, they also learned about fire operations, accountability, radios and communication, and scene safety. The volunteers participated in National Night Out, where they helped educate the public on safety measures and even volunteered for the dunk tank.

“A big shout out and thank you to all of our current volunteers and administrative staff who are dedicating so much time to help train and share your skills and experience! We are excited to have these rookies’ starting shifts and fire academy at the end of August” said Moscow Volunteer Fire and Ambulance on their Facebook page.
