SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane’s “most authentic Japanese Sushi Restaurant and Lounge” is set to close its doors in December, closing the final chapter of a restaurant that has called the Lilac City home since 1949.

Suki Yaki Inn announced its last day in business will be Dec. 16 in a Facebook post on Friday.

While the post didn’t give a specific reason for closing, it did invite the Spokane community to join them in celebrating the retirement their head chef and owner Emiko Collett over their last month in business.

“Your patronage has filled these walls with joy, and we’d be honored to share our last moments together,” the Facebook post reads. “Let’s come together to reminisce, express gratitude, and bid farewell to an era.”
