OLYMPIA, Wash. – Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal will face David Olson in the November general election after the two candidates placed first and second respectively in the Aug. 6 primary.
Reykdal, who has been superintendent since 2017, was the top-pick amongst primary voters with 81% of votes counted according to The New York Times.
David Olson, a member of the Peninsula School District Board of Directors who is endorsed by the Washington State Republican Party, is also poised to move forward to the general election contest in November. At the Washington State Republican convention in April, he voiced opposition to Black Lives Matter, Critical Race Theory and COVID-19 regulations.
Rainier Beach High School teacher will not advance to the general election despite having out-fundraised Reykdal by over $100,000 according to Washington Public Disclosure Commission data.
