SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane County Sheriff’s office is searching for the man who robbed a coffee stand early Wednesday morning, holding what victims describe to be a gun.
Surveillance video captured the moment a man wearing dark clothing and a mask walked up to Crush Coffee Bar’s window around 5:30 a.m., holding a plastic bag. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said there were two women inside at the time.
According to the victims, the man said something along the lines of, “give me all your money,” – so they did. However, because the stand had just opened for the day, not a lot of money was in the register.
The employees told law enforcement they saw the man holding what appeared to be a gun, pointing it at them, but SCSO said it could have been a BB gun – they don’t know for sure because they arrived at the scene after the suspect got away.
In a statement to NonStop Local, Nichole Decker, Crush Coffee owner said:
“Our staff this morning encountered an incident that no one should have to deal with… rewatching the video the girls stayed very calm, grabbed the very small amount of cash we have and placed it in his provided bag,” Decker said. “Thankfully we have cameras, video and panic buttons with our alarm system that the girls very quickly pushed that alerted my phone and the police right away.”
After getting the small amount of cash, Decker said her employees watched the man walk away on foot, headed west on Sprague Avenue. Law enforcement showed up a short time later and received statements and the surveillance video; they are investigating the robbery.
