FISHTRAP, Wash. — A pursuit that began in Franklin County ended with the arrest of a suspect driver in Spokane County.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the initial chase started in Franklin County, although the specific location remains unspecified. WSP troopers discontinued the pursuit for reasons that have not been disclosed.
A WSP trooper in Ritzville later reported observing a vehicle matching the suspect’s description traveling the wrong way on Highway 395, prompting a new pursuit. The chase continued onto I-90, concluding at the Fish Trap exit.
At that exit, the suspect’s vehicle exited the freeway, initially heading eastbound in the westbound lanes before correcting to the eastbound lanes. A WSP trooper attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, which initially failed but succeeded on a second attempt, bringing the suspect’s car to a stop in a ditch.
A foot pursuit followed, and the suspect was taken into custody shortly afterward. WSP indicated that there is probable cause for a felony eluding charge.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
