Suspect arrested for murder in 2019 North Idaho missing persons case

SANDPOINT, Idaho — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the 2019 disappearance of Rae Allison Berwanger, who was reported missing to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office on March 7, 2019.

According to a press release from the Bonner County deputies, Jordan Jarrad Law, 46, previously of Bonner County, has been indicted by a Bonner County Grand Jury on multiple charges, including second-degree murder.

The investigation, which spanned several years, identified Law as a person of interest in Berwanger’s case. On Sept. 17, 2024, he was indicted on five charges, including second-degree murder, offering a false or forged instrument for record, destruction of evidence and two counts of rape, of which was related to another victim discovered during the investigation.

Deputies said that Law was located and taken into custody in Spokane on Sept. 18, with the help of the Bend Police Department, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service.
