Suspect arrested in connection to downtown Spokane shooting

SPOKANE, Wash, – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) arrested a man suspected of shooting another person in downtown Spokane.

On Friday, June 7, at approximately 7:15 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported a shooting in the area of East Short Avenue and South Division Street.

Upon arrival, Spokane police discovered a victim with serious injuries. SPD immediately initiated life-saving measures on the victim. Additionally, officers managed to locate and detain the armed suspect upon contact.

Medics promptly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to aid in the investigation.

The shooting suspect has been taken into custody and booked into the Spokane County Jail for First Degree Assault.
