Suspect identified in Spokane County deputy stabbing incident

DEER PARK, Wash. — The suspect who s has been identified, and more details have emerged.

According to a press release from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is Gloria Endress, 32, also known as Engel Immer. She was behaving erratically, moving between homes, jumping fences, running through yards and approaching cars while asking for help, water or a ride.

When deputies arrived, they tried to contact Endress, but she walked away and ignored commands to show her hands. Deputies noted that they had previously conducted welfare checks on her.

that Endress approached a white truck stopped near the intersection of Dalton Road and Wildrose Road and began speaking to the driver through the open passenger-side window. When a deputy approached, Endress turned around quickly, spraying pepper spray and holding a large knife. She then stabbed the deputy in the upper left chest.

Despite attempts by the injured deputy and another deputy to de-escalate the situation, Endress remained aggressive and continued to threaten them with the knife and pepper spray. She did not comply with repeated commands to drop the knife. Eventually, a Taser was used to take her into custody.

The sheriff’s office said that the stabbed deputy is in stable condition.
